Type: Adaptive reuse, mixed-use residential
Role: Architect
Located in the Arlington Heights neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, 616 West Arlington Place is an adaptive reuse project converting what was most recently a hostel into new apartment units. The building, built by the Eleanor Association in the 1920’s, was originally an apartment-hotel specifically designed to provide housing for single, professional women of the time. Lopergolo + Bartling will create much needed housing with 36 modern, permanent apartments, while preserving the Georgian Revival-style details that contribute to the rich historic fabric of the neighborhood.
